Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 6.1
Operating System: Windows Vista

Hi,

We have Origin 6.1 in our lab and we'll receive new workstations with Windows Vista installed. Does Origin 6.1 run on Vista?
Should we shutdown the User Account Control (UAC) as for Origin 7.0?

Thanks,
Marco

Hello, my new computer came with Vista Ultimate. After several tries, I could install my copy of Origin 6.1. However, when I try to open the software it gets stuck. Any suggestions.

Hi Origin works fine on my Vista Home edition laptop. I cant seem to get the beckman menus on the origin copy i have (6.0). I have installed from proteomelab as i have in the past on XP, the files seem to be in the right place but only Standard origin will open? any thoughts

thanks Laurence

I had problems with Origin Pro 7.0 in Vista Business and tried to set compatibility mode to Windows XP service pack2 and run the program as administrator. I disabled Vista's User Account Control (UAC) and
tried installing in both:
C:\Program Files\OriginLab\OriginPro75and
C:\Users\mojo\Documents
The installation runs without any problems in all cases, but when the Origin starts, it hangs at the intro and the message 'Origin has stopped working' pops up without any other information - only option is to close. Vista is not offering any help...
Finally, I exhanged the out60.dll as suggested here and it runs perfect now.

This is probably due to the printer driver conflict problem which only has a complete solution for version 7 and up. Described here:
http://www.originlab.com/www/support/resultstech.aspx?ID=1080&language=English&Version=All

If you look at this article:
http://www.originlab.com/www/support/resultstech.aspx?ID=38&language=English&Version=All
you can try the test for the problem. If this is your problem, then the only workaround is to have a 'good' printer the Windows default when you run Origin. The Apple LaserWriter set to print to FILE works nicely for this purpose.

Origin 6.1 does not work in Vista.
When I open Origin 6.1, there is "no response"

Yes, Origin 6.1 can run on Vista. Just install it like Origin 7.0.
