Hello everybody,
I am trying to include Origin 7.5 graphs in Powerpoint 2007, using the link option (that is when I double click the graph image in PowerPoint, Origin opens the original project the graph came from). Inserting the graph and reediting in Origin 7.5 seems to work, but onece I close the ppt file and try to reopen it, Powerpoint freezes (this happened both if I choose or not for the "Update links to files" option when powerpoint opens. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Adrian

Posted - 03/06/2008 : 09:14:31 AM Hi Larry,
Thank you. Indeed, if this feature worked fully (I mean inserting graph from Origin projects, with a link) it would be great. I am doing experiments where I analyze data in Origin, and then I would like to drop a graph in powepoint and keep track of all the changes and for me this would be ideal. Just a mentionning: I am actually using WinXP Pro, not Vista

Since the new Office (and Vista) change the structure a lot, there are many compatibility problems. I will talk with our developers to see whether there is a solution. May be you should wait for some time.

The reason why I want to link the file is that changes to the graph can then be done both in Origin (where I can update for examle the data, add other plots, etc) and in ppt (where it might be useful to change the appearance of the graph.

I will then try it like this. Actually I managed to open it at some point after a lot o fwaiting on a good computer and I managed to set all the links update to manual, but it still did not improve things a lot. How do you insert then the OGG exactly?

Posted - 03/04/2008 : 12:13:54 PM You should NOT insert from an OPJ (Project) file. Instead, in Origin do a Save Window As on your graph and save as an OGG file. You can insert your OGG into Powerpoint and you should not have any problem.
