Hi
i am pramod bharade doing M.Tech in Irrigation Engg.i have 1 output and 5 input data of 300 numbers.i want to see relationship between them and i want to find out eq. which will be suit for this data of 5 input and will give the approriate value as like its output.so please suggest me any proper method to find out surface fit equation for this data.

Thanks

Hi Pramod:

Do you mean there are 5 independent variables and 1 dependent variable, and you want to find out the relationship between independent and dependent variable? If so, I don't think it's a 3D surface, it's a multi-dimension surface.

You can define a multi-independent fitting function to do that. When defining the function, just type x1, x2, x3.... on the Independent Variable edit box. However, I think you should consider Multiple Linear Regression first.

For Origin 80, select Analysis : Fitting : Multiple Linear Regression
For Origin 75, select Statistics : Multiple Regression

Thanks
Larry
