Hi, everybody --
I'm just getting used to version 8 (coming from v. 7.5), and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. I can't find anything in the help files about this problem, so here I am.
It used to be back in v. 7.5 that you could draw a circle with the circle tool and actually constrain it to be a circle (not an ellipse) by holding the CONTROL key as you dragged the object box. I tried doing that in v. 8, but no joy. The SHIFT key doesn't work, either, so I'm wondering if there was some sort of operational change in the software, if that ability is now gone (which would be horrible), if it's my computer, or if maybe I'm just hallucinating.
Thanks a million --
Mark

Posted - 06/16/2008 : 3:48:15 PM Thanks, Greg --
Well, this is embarrassing as all get out. It works, and I'm befuddled as to why it wouldn't work before I posted that question. Duh. Anyway, I feel like the requisite twit, if it makes everybody feel any better.
Now that I have your attention, though -- is there any way to constrain rotation using the rotation handles to, say, 15 degrees at a time as in some other drawing applications? I don't recall that it was possible in other versions of Origin, either, but I certainly could have missed it.
Thanks again, Sir --

Posted - 06/16/2008 : 3:22:44 PM This should still be working in Origin 8.
Click the Circle tool. (Or click & hold the filled shape, then Circle) Hold down the Ctrl key. Click-drag until your circle is the right size.
If you double-click this circle and check the Dimensions tab, the Width and Height should be the same.
