Each time I import an ASCII file into a workbook the long and short names of the workbook are automatically generated. They both include the file extension (i.e. .txt, .dat), which is really annoying. I know I can remove it afterwards by editing the workbook properties but it takes a lot of time when there are many workbooks. Is there a way to systematically avoid the file extensions in the workbook names? Thanks. |

When importing files by Import Simple ASCII button, you can check the Show Option Dialog at the bottom of file selecting dialog box. Then Origin will open the impASC dialog box, and then you can set how to rename workbooks in the (Re)Naming Worksheet and Workbook branch.
