Posted - 07/31/2008 : 07:42:46 AM Hi,
we have to install Origin 8 on a Windows 2003 Server with SP2. Installation of Origin finishes successful, Origin is installed to be useable for ALL users.
If a users (not the installing user) tries to start Origin it crashes with "unkown software exception" (0xc0000005) at 0x4c03b319. We have cross-checked a basic Origin-Install, with SR 1 and with SR2. In all three constellations the same effect occurs.

Posted - 08/01/2008 : 5:48:16 PM Hello,
Could you give us more information? 1. Where is Origin installed? On the local PC? 2. What privilege does the user account have? 3. Did you see the Specify User Files Folder dialog? What did you specify there? local or network one? 4. Could you generate an Origin log file so that we can debug it?
To generate an Origin 8 log file. 1. Log on as the user (not the installer) 2. Run regedit.exe 3. Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software|OriginLab|Origin 8|International| Right-click on the right side of the Registry and select New | DWORD Value. Name it Control. Set its value to 2. 4. Now start Origin to reproduce the crash. 5. The log file named Origin_Log.txt will be created.
To find the debug log file 1. Right click on My Computer on your Desktop and select Properties. 2. Then go to Advanced, Environment Variables. 3. Look in the User Variables for a TEMP variable. 4. Double-click on the TEMP variable. 5. In the edit dialog that opens, highlight and copy the variable value - this is the path to the file. 6. Paste this path into Windows Explorer. There you should find the Origin_Log.txt file.
Thanks, Snow Li OriginLab Corp. |
