Posted - 08/21/2008 : 10:20:34 PM I have used Origin 7 for quite some time for simple data analysis and nonlinear curve fitting. I have recently been using Origin 8 and have found that Origin 8 is significantly slower. For example, I have timed the loading of the nonlinear curve fitting dialog and found that it takes more than a factor of 10 longer in Origin 8 than it did in Origin 7. As another example, when I have more than a few books of data (only a few hundred points each) in a project I find that simply opening another book takes a significant amount of time in Origin 8. Is there something that I am doing that is slowing the program down? Is there some way that I can switch back to Origin 7.5 using the license code I payed for for Origin 8? |

Posted - 08/22/2008 : 2:21:12 PM Hi Easwar,
Thanks for this info. I actually figured out the problem. For some reason all of the books that were being opened had thousands of columns in them, which was slowing everything down. Once I changed the book template to have a reasonable number of columns it worked fine.
Thanks, Cindy |

Posted - 08/22/2008 : 10:05:37 AM Hi,
Regarding opening another book, do you mean creating a new book or opening an existing minimized or hidden book?
Can you share your opj with us so we can see if this is in any way opj specific? You could send the opj to tech support and refer to this post.
Thanks,
