If I use a color for a symbol that is the color used for data masking, the legend for that symbol has a box around it. This box goes away if I use a color different from the masking color.

This is only a nuisance.

Hi,

The red box around the legend of a particular dataset is the "active dataset indicator". It shows which curve amongst many is active. This can be turned off by opening Plot Details, going to the Graph level in the left tree, then selecting Legends/Titles check box and unchecking the "Indicate Active Dataset" checkbox.
