Posted - 12/15/2008 : 9:12:39 PM Hi,
Origin haven't supported fitting with X error yet. As for Y error, you can first create a plot with Y error bars and then open the linear fit tool. If you are using Origin 8, you can also open the Linear Fit tool first, and then select the Y error range in the Input Data branch(http://www.originlab.com/www/helponline/Origin8/en/origin.htm#Regression_and_Curve_Fitting/Simple_Linear_Regression_Dialog.htm#Input_Data).

Posted - 12/12/2008 : 7:34:35 PM thanks very much that was very helpful, one more thing though, when you fit an straight line, how do you make it so the x and y errors are taken into account on the error of the gradient? |

Posted - 12/12/2008 : 10:01:17 AM Plotting special cases directly from Excel can be tricky and there's more than one way. Here's the easiest:
- If your desired Excel sheet is not the first sheet:
- Make the desired sheet active
- Right-click the Title bar of the Workbook and choose Update Origin
- Click the New Graph button on the Standard toolbar
- Double-click the Layer1 icon in the upper left of the graph window
- Expand the Plot Setup dialog to show all 3 panels (blue arrow buttons)
- Select the Excel Workbook in the top panel
- Select your Plot Type in the middle panel
- Right-click on the table with all the check boxes and choose X Err Bars
- Use the check boxes to select your X,Y,XErr and YErr and click ADD
- Click OK
