Origin Ver. 7.5 SR 6:
Operating System: Windows

Hi,

I am trying to make contour plots of regularly-spaced rastered data. (collected line by line) Origin says the data is not regular and so I can only use the Random XYZ conversion to create the matrix. Is there a way to convert the rastered data without having to use a method that is interpolating my (x,y) data points?

Thanks,
Lisa

I've occasionally found that depending on the ordering of data Origin had problems recognizing it as regular, so might be worth sorting your worksheet first just in case.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the demo.

Hi Lisa,

Origin version 8.0 allows plotting contour graphs directly from XYZ data where the X,Y do not need to be regularly spaced. No intermediate matrix is created and the contour is computed using triangulation:

You can try this with your data by downloading the Origin 8 demo.
