Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 8.0.63.988 SR6
Operating System: Windows XP SP3

Hi,

I have an unusual problem with displaying error bars. I have a custom "rank" plot in which the y-axis is just a custom row number and the x-axis is the actual data, and the error is also in the x-axis. For a few data points in the plot the minus error bar does not display, while for the other data points both the minus and plot error bars display properly. All the data is contained in one column and all the error bars are contained in one other column of data, so it isn't that different settings are being applied to the different data points or error bars. This is occurring in more than one graph of the same custom type, and I can't find a common link between the data points that are missing their minus error bars.

Any ideas as to what is causing this and/or how to fix it?

thanks,
ryan

Hi,

I had the same problem, and in my case it was a matter of the order of the objects in the Layer Contents dialog window. I just put the error bars as the last object (down) and it worked.

Cheers,

Hi gnameni,

If the left error value is such that it goes negative, then on log scale no error bar on left is shown in Origin 8. The only workaround is to change the left error value so that the y-lefterror is a very small number but still larger than zero. This requires editing the data to adjust the number as needed.

We will look into fixing this in the future so that the error bar gets drawn to layer border by default if value goes negative.

Can you publish the solution to this problem? I am experiencing the EXACT problem as the last user. Thanks in advance!
