Origin Ver. and Service Release (8 sr6
Operating System:XP

On a ternary scatter plot, I have 127 points. To prevent overlap I am using the useful customising feature to remove ca 50 of them by unticking the box.

After doing about 30 points succesfully, the tool stopped working properly. The point remains identically in place if I:
untick it
change the colour to white
change the font size to 1 (or 0)
etc

If I delete it from the list as a special point then re-select it with this tool, the point re-appears on the list with all the previously selected formatting (e.g. red) in the plot details, but not reflected on the plot.

This happens with only some of the points. If there are two (or more) overlapping ones, I can remove and reinstate the earliest in the list, but the later ones refuse to be moved. Is this ageism?

I have closed down then restarted Origin, but the difficulty and incorrect settings seem to survive.

Origin provides a Regional Mask Tool to mask selected points on the tools toolbar.
For more information, you can refter to the page:
http://www.originlab.com/www/helponline/Origin8/en/graphical_exploration_of_data/masking_data_in_graphs.htm
The masked points in the graph and corresponding masked data in the worksheet are shown in a different color. Activate the graph, select Mask: Hide from the short-cut menu to hide the masked points in the graph. And the masked data are still in the worksheet.

Thank you for the message, 4th bug I have found in my first fortnight of Origin!

Can you suggest a work around? I have not found a way to omit a point while retaining the data in the worksheet. I need to keep the numbering intact since the numbers on this graph act as a key to subsequent graphs.

It is a bug. Thank you for reporting it. We have submitted a tracker, #14381 for it and will fix it in our future version.
