Operating System: XP 2

I want to produce a stereo pair of 3D scatter plots with drop lines. The dataset is XYZ coordinates (127) plus a dataset coding the shape and filling of the points to be plotted (62).

1. Having created a 3D scatter plot then using Plot Details> Symbol> show construction, I have specified the points in the columns for the required symbols, which works well. Many of the XYZ coordinates are omitted because of the coding of the dataset.

2. However when I use Drop lines to indicate the position of the points, every listed coordinate is given a drop line. I want just the coded points to be indicated as the uncoded points are not relevant. Is there a way of coding the presence (and preferably appearance, e.g. colour) of the drop lines?

3. Is there a help page on preparing stereo pairs? I cannot find one.

Thank you, this worked well.

A couple of subsidiary points, mostly due to inexperience

a. I tried to add the drop line plot as an additional layer, but I could not find any way to declare the new layer as a 3D scatter. Origin chose various defaults that I could not find a way to over-ride in plot setup or add layer. The best I could do was a 3D contour, but I could not link the 3D axes together.

b. In the layer contents box, it would help if the available data list was less cryptic, and more logical: <book><sheet><column>

c. Is there a stereo pair procedures already prepared?

Hi Velson:

Sorry that we don't support the feature in #2 yet. One workaround is, create duplicated XYZ dataset for coding and add to the original (full data) 3D scatter plot. You can use Layer Contents to add new dataset, just like step 7 in this tutorial. Then in plot detail, you will have tow datasets, and then you can change their settings (like add drop lines) respectively.

Thanks
Larry
