Posted - 11/14/2009 : 06:40:36 AM Hi,
I have a problem someone might be able to help me with.
I have data if the form of two columns. The X and Y values belong to each other, and I want to know how frequent a certain combination occurs (within an upper and lower limit).
So in effect, the data should be converted to a XYZ matrix, wherein X and Y are recalculated, and Z determined. Im my case, X and Y lie between 0 and 7, and I would like this to be devided into about 40 - 100 regions.
I have no idea how to do this however... I checked the online help, but I can only find how to make a matrix, when the Z-data already exists.
So, please, can someone help me with this problem?
Cheers,

Posted - 11/14/2009 : 2:58:30 PM Hi,
You can perform 2D binning of your XY data to create a matrix.
In versions 8.1/8.0, the menu for this is under Statistics->Descriptive Statistics->2D Frequency Count/Binning. In older versions it may be under edit menu, search help file for 2D Binning.
