Dear all,

I am using the non linear fit tool to fit my curve with a Gaussian. The model is y=y0 + (A/(w*sqrt(PI/2)))*exp(-2*((x-xc)/w)^2.

My question is what is w ? Is it the value at 1/eČ or 1/e ?

Many thanks in advance,
PS: I am using Origin 8 SR2.
David

It means "2 sigma" if the curve follows Gaussian distribution. I have updated the sample curve as below. I don't remember we did the update from which build, maybe user can update to SR6 to see the new sample curve.

You can see from derived parameter that: FWHM = 2*sqrt(ln(4))*sigma = 2.3548*sigma = 1.1774*w

It's a value related to "full width at half maximum", see

for the deducing process
