a_user	Posted - 08/18/1998 : 1:07:00 PM I have several data set for a plot layer. Wennever I plot a data set to the layer (origin 5) I must always change the symbol attribute again . That is, the old attribut (style and size) that I made last time is no more valid. Origin 4 had automatically saved atrritute changes and next time I had not needed to change it. Is there any simple way to save symbol attribut of a data set for the next use?

Microcal appreciates and values user input. It does appear that there is an inconsistency between Origin 4.1 and Origin 5.0 when comparing which attributes of a dataset are reset and which are restored upon removing and then re-adding the dataset from a plot via the Layer Contents dialog box. Symbol Color and Shape are restored in both Origin 4.1 and Origin 5.0 while Symbol Style and Size are restored in Origin 4.1 but reset in Origin 5.0. I have brought this inconsistency to the attention of our developers and I am sure it will be addressed as soon as they are able. In the meantime, I have found that in Origin 5.0 if you re-add the dataset to the Layer Contents using the menu command Graph:Add Plot to Layer then all attributes are restored. I hope this information is useful.
