Concerning Origin version 5.0 for Windows 95

Dear fellow-origin-users,

I have "created" a problem:

Open the Screen Reader or Data Reader.
This allows you to retrieve information from data points in your graph.
It automatically opens the X,Y-window to show you the cartesian coordinates.

Okay? Next reduce the size of this X,Y-window to its smallest size,
using your mouse (this is maybe stupid, but it can be done and I did it!).
Now close the X,Y-window by clicking on "X". The window disappears
and....it never will show up again. Even closing Origin and starting up
again doesn't work.

Is it gone forever?

Rob.

In the latest versions of Origin you can recover the Data Display window by clicking the Reinitialize button in the customize toolbars windows (accessible via Ctrl+T).

Needless to say that you will also lose all the settings concerning other toolbars (buttons, positions etc.)

I have the same problem. I use Origin 7 and the XY reader is gone for some reason. I looked in files ORIGIN.INI and Origin70.INI but I could not find "SPACEBAR" like posted by GaryLane...11years ago..nor do I find repair origin.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Hi earleW,

You can try to repair your Origin 8. Select Origin 8 Add or Remove Files from the Window Start Up Menu. You can see an option to repair Origin.

As a reminder, please upgrade to the latest service release patch (SR4) after repairing Origin.

If problem persists, please contact us again.

You broke it!!!

You broke it!!!...just teasing...

Open the text file ORIGIN50.INI in your main Origin folder, search for the text
"SPECBAR", set XSIZE=383 and YSIZE=33, and then save the file. The next time
you open Origin the Data Display window should open just fine.

Thanks for reporting this problem.
