I am trying to figure out how to change the boundaries between different Z-axis colors for 3D plots. I know how to change the colors, and add a new scheme, but I am interested in making the Z-Axis countou marks less sharp. I have seen this done before with Origin, where one color gradually changes into the next without a sharp line. As it stands, my sufrace and contour plots look striped and sort of silly.

I think you need Origin 8.1 or later for major minor color levels. In Origin 8, you can setup more levels but then the contour lines will be to dense, or you can choose not to show the contour lines.

I have Origin Pro 8. I will check out the video to see if it helps me figure this out. Thanks for your response.

Hi,

What version of Origin do you have?

See these video tutorials:

Part 2 shows how to apply a palette and set major and minor levels etc.
