Posted - 12/09/2010 : 11:20:47 AM Hi everybody,
I would like to do point by point correlation between 2 equal x-y maps representing 2 parameters A and B. I want to see, for example, if when A is larger, is B smaller, larger or the same. This should give me a graph where x and y axes are the 2 parameters A and B.
Do you know how this can be done in Origin or by other means?
Thank you!!!
George

Posted - 12/10/2010 : 11:43:40 AM I think what you are looking for is the Scatter Matrix which can plot two or more datasets against each other to find positive or negative correlation coefficient. Select the two ( or more ) columns your are interested in. Choose Plot : Statistics : Scatter Matrix In the Plotting: plotmatrix dialog, select 'Linear Fit' if you want the correlation coefficient to be calculated. A negative slope implies a negative correlation while a positive slope implies a positive correlation. (Positive meaning when A is large, B is large.) Adjusted R^2 value close to 1 implies high correlation while near zero implies little or no correlation.
