Origin Ver. 8.1 SR2
Windows XP Prof.

Hello,

one of our customers need microsecond precision combined with date values.
So I tried a custom format like
MM'-'dd'-'yyyy HH':'mm':'ss'.'#####

Unfortunately, Origin seems not to be able to handle this precision.

For instance, input of
11-16-2010 15:57:01.12345

results in
11-16-2010 15:57:01.12347

What is the internal precision limit? Or is it a bug?

Is there any way to get around?

Since the measurements extend over several days, we need graphs displaying the date as well as an exact time stamp (microseconds !). Meanwhile I used
DDD:hh:mm:ss.######

but the display of 'DDD' is rather inconvenient ...

Thank you for looking into the problem!

Hi Michael,

So, if it is actually not possible, can you recommend an easy workaround to combine a date column and a microsecond time column in one graph?

Currently there isn't a way to combine information from another (date) column for axes labels generated from the time column. We will consider this for a future version.

Besides, how can I achive the format
hh:mm:ss.######
instead of
DDD:hh:mm:ss.######
?

In the next version there will be capability to specify custom formatting for Time column (which is now available only for Date) so you will be able to specify like above.

Ok, sorry, I've discovered the following explanation:
