                Posted - 06/19/2011 : 7:35:41 PM Hello,
I've been an Origin user for several years. I'm trying to make multiple plots for which value versus position is plotted over and over for different times. I thought the way to avoid the retrace lines from the last x-point to the first x-point was to include blank lines between the data sets. However, I now have these annoying retrace lines. Please tell me the way to avoid these retrace lines. |

Posted - 06/20/2011 : 11:24:03 PM Thanks. A few minutes ago I verified that this information enables me to solve the problem.
Unfortunately, I gave my conference presentation early today. I was unable to solve the problem last night so I deleted the second set of data from my presentation. (I avoided the use of color to distinguish the curves because I don't want to rely on color in my conference paper.)
I don't see the point of having a default that causes dashed curves to look like solid curves.
By the way, I also had the same problem with dotted curves and one or two other types of curves. |

                Posted - 06/20/2011 : 2:39:32 PM Hi,
Could you please try to turn ON the option of "Use Origin Dashes in Page View" check box in "Graph" tab in Options dialog ("Tools: Options" menu)? Hope this solves the problem.

It was unchecked. I noticed that when I reduced the number of data sets out of the 7 MB size data file, the problem went away. Now I'm only plotting a few hundred points and the retrace problem is gone.
Now I've rediscovered an old problem whereby a dashed line looks the same as a solid line. They both look the same. I can distinguish them by color but I don't want to rely on this method. I think the trick is that if I export this graphic to something like a PNG file, then the dashed lined will look dashed. I thought this problem was solved long ago. |

  Display:Connect line across Missing Data
  is unchecked.
