Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.0.63.988 SR6
Operating System: XP pro

I am looking for some advice on how to efficiently link documents. I have had this problem even when pasting links to Excel graphs in Word to a certain extent, but it was bearable. Linking Origin graphs makes opening or closing a Word document rather hectic.

Linking documents has it's benefits and is possible, so I tend to use it.

My current routine is to prepare graph in Origin, then right click on it, 'copy page', then in Word 'paste special' and 'paste link'. It works fine, when I am dealing with just a few graphs. Now I have 9 graphs and opening and closing takes well over 10 minutes. Opening can be shorter, if I do not update links. Updating even one link, starts opening many Origin processes, which takes time. In fact is seems to freeze Word, but when the opened processes are ended from Windows Task Manager, the updating continues by opening more Origin processes, which I close, when CPU usage goes to zero and so on many, many times. Then finally I can work on the Word document or have it closed.

Is there a less time consuming way of using links or should I stop using it all together?

A little update. I have just redone the document in Open Office and it opens in about 2 seconds, without any help.
The problem is, I have to report in Word, so any ideas will be appreciated.
