Origin 8.1, SR3

How can I export data from an origin sheet into .csv format using the export function. The data I have is in german format where in "," is used as a decimal separator instead of ".".

When I export the data in .csv format, I cant open the data in excel and read as the is no differentiation between the separtor "," and the decimal ","

Any related info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Hideo Fujii

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the export using the TAB as separator and it works for now. It would be very helpful if ";" can be used instead of "," as separator when dealing with the german data formats.
As I understand that is considered a standard.

Thanks again

Hi kiantap,

When you export the worksheet data as a CSV file in German environment (set comma as a decimal separator in Windows), Origin outputs like:
"1,23","4,56","7,89"
By some reason, Excel seems not recognizing the syntax of double-quoted numbers (but, I think it should). At this moment, could you please try to export as ASCII (as a .DAT file) using the TAB as the separator? When I tried so, Excel can open the file correctly.

Unfortunately, in Origin, when the data is exported as CSV, you cannot choose e.g., the semicolon as the separator. I will ask OriginLab developers to include this option in future release.
