Hello!

Is it possible in Origin to draw an area plot where the areas between two curves are filled with different colors depending on wether curve 1 is below curve 2 or vice versa, and if yes, how?

I would like to visualize the integral of a function with positive and negative contributions.

Thank you in advance.

Alex

Hi Alex,

Similar to this graph style, there is no straightforward way to construct such shaded plot. In your case, you need to divide sub regions where the curve is either upper or lower than the other curve. See the attached sample:

Here, there are three regions, and first I found crossing points of two curves (say, by interpolation). Divide whole data to separate worksheets for subareas. Add crossing points at each subareas. Make the first "Fill Area" plot. Open Plot Setup dialog, and at the bottom panel of the dialog, choose "Layer1" branch, and add other two fill area plots from the rest of the subareas.

Hope this is helpful.
