Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 8.5 SR1
Operating System: Win XP

Hi,

suddenly some of the functions in the main menu disappered, like all the analysis sub functions, the gadgets and statistics.
Could it be that I´ve by mistake changed the start-up route for Origin? Perhaps it would all be fixed by reinstalling Origin but it would be good to know the reason for this behaviour, not causing it again! Most grateful for all help in this matter.

/Bjorn

Hi Hideo,

it seems as I had lost the X-function folder,
after repairing this everything works as it should again!
I´m most grateful for Your support, thank You very much.

Hi Bjorn,

I have received several suggestions from my colleagues, and could you please try the following suggestions?

1) Rename all the files with the extension .xfd in the
"X-Functions" subfolder of the installation (like, rename
XFDUMP_P_E.xfd to XFDUMP_P_E.xfd.hide), then run Origin once as
administrator (the X-Functions will be scanned at startup),
and see if the menus are restored.

2) Check whether you have accidentally used Hide Built-in Menus
in the "Tools: Custom Menu Organizer" dialog?

3) In the case of accident removal of your x-functions, you can
  repair your Origin installation.
To do so, choose "Add or remove files" from "Start> OriginLab> Origin8.5" in Windows.

If Repair didn't fix your problem, maybe no way, but need to perform the "clean reinstallation".
You can uninstall the current installation, then install to the completely different location from the previous installation.

Please let me know how it went.

Hi Hideo,

thanks for Your support, although it seems as I was already in "Full Menu"mode. The menu titles are all there, in some cases even submenu items (like for "Analysis: Math/Data Man./Fitting etc. ) but at some level its empty, before reaching the actual function.
In some cases, like for the Graph menu item, some of the submenu items seems missing, eg. "Add scrollbar".
Time to reinstall?

/Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,

Regarding "restore the front window", I suspect that your Origin workbook sub-window (or other sub-window e.g., graph/matrix) is maximized INSIDE Origin. To restore its proper size, press the small button of overlapped boxes at left of [X] button at leftmost corner in the same line of Origin menus. Once the proper sub-windows are restored, you cab change the menu levels.

Hi,

seems as I´m already in "Full Menus"-mode.

Anyway, trying to change to "Short Menus"
produce the following message:
"Menu levels cannot be changed while front window is maximized.
Please restore the window"

Could this cause my problem and how do I in this case "restore the front window"?

Hi Bjorn,

I guess that "Format: Menu: Short Menus" menu was accidentally chosen.
If so, you can choose "Format: Menu: Full Menus" menu to recover the full menus.
Is this your case?
