Hi, I'm new to Originlab. I'm trying to calculate the area under the plotted line. What does "Use End Points Straight Line as Baseline" mean? I want two different measures of areas:
1. Use x-axis as the baseline, which is to uncheck "Use End Points Straight Line as Baseline."
2. Use the minimum y-value of the data as the baseline.
Does the option "Use End Points Straight Line as Baseline" use the minimum y-value as the baseline? If not, what does it do? I ask this question because I looked at the help page and I don't understand where does the baseline y=f(x0) come from.

Hi Helena,
The option "Use End Points Straight Line as Baseline" connects the left and right end points, so it's not the minimum Y (horizontal) line.
We are planning to have the Minimum Y baseline option in the "Integrate" gadget (in the next Origin version 8.6 (expecting in Nov.). Then, it will be direct and much easier to achieve what you wanted!
Meanwhile, you can use the "Subtract Baseline" option in the Peak Analyzer before Integration.
1) Duplicate your source worksheet data if you don't want to modify itself. Operate on this duplicated data.
2) Start Peak Analyzer ("Analysis: Peaks&Baseline: Peak Analyzer" menu)
3) In the 1st page, choose "Subtract Baseline" as the goal; In the 2nd page, choose Baseline Mode="Constant" and "Minimum" for Y value.
In the 3rd page. At the end, you get the adjusted curve which has the Y minimum at 0.
4) Perform the integration from Analysis menu, or by Integrate gadget.
