Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.6
Operating System: WinXP

Hi,
i wondered if i could add a hot key for a menu command, in particular the "merge cells" command. I couldn't find a way to do this.
thanks,
theresa.

Instead of a hot key, wouldn't the "Merge Cells" button be better? By default, it is located on the Style toolbar at the top of the Origin workspace. You may be having trouble finding it because your screen size is to small; do you have a 3:4 screen monitor instead of widescreen?. If so, you can move the Style toolbar to another location. If the Style toolbar isn't showing, go to View/Toolbars pull-down menu and check the box to make it show.

I know the button, but i think it would be more comfortable to use the keyboard, because it saves me a lot of clicking and mouse moving :)
So it's just a question of laziness ;-)
thank you anyway!
theresa.

Hi Theresa,

Currently you cannot assign arbitrary accelerator key (keyboard shortcuts)
to a user-defined menu. One dull work-around is as follows if you really
want to use keys on your keyboard:

1) Define a macro like:
  def qq {Menu -e 35045;};
(Note: You can put this line in Macro.cnf in your program directory.)
2) Highlight cells, and enter qq in the Command window.

I will suggest to make the acceleration key definable for the custom menus
to our developers.
