Origin Ver. 8.5.1
Operating System: Win7

Again an issue: When I try to save my actual project, Origin tells me that it is not able to do so. Also it suggests to free some space, as that may be the reason for the problem. But I have 800GB of free space on my harddisk and the project should be below 1Gb (but it has several hundrets of megabytes though).

So I cant close Origin at the moment without loosing the work of this morning :(

Hi FloTor,

I don't know the exact situation and your environment, but for now, can you "Save As" the project to another disk such as a removable USB drive?

Hi,

Go to Tools->Options menu item and in that dialog switch to Open/Close tab. Then uncheck the "Backup project before saving" check box. Might as well uncheck "Autosave...." check box.

Then try saving your opj. Does that work?

Backup.opj (in your version) is saved to User Files Folder (UFF), and maybe there is some problem/privilege issue with your current UFF folder?

No that also doesnt work.
By the way: when I start a new Origin instance and try to create and save a new project that works without any problems.
So is it possible that my project is just too big or something like that?
(related question: how can I separate a project in smaller pieces?)

Hi FloTor,

Just for now to save your current work not all at once, can you try the following?:

1) If your project has multiple subfolders in the Project Explorer, right-click the folder, and choose "Save As Project" flyout.

2) For each workbook or graph, right-click at the title bar, and choose "Save As" flyout. If it is a workbook, *.OGW is created, and if it is a graph, *.OGG file will be created.

Could either make a backup?

Ok, saving single workbooks and graphs works. Saving folders doesnt. (Same error message as when I try to save the whole project).
Any idea what could be the reason?

Oh well... the problem has "solved" itself.
I tried to open a new project and origin asked wether it should save the old one. And as usual it couldn´t save it with the usual error message. But nevertheless it decided to open the new project and kill the old one.... great :(

I still have this problem. When I open the project again I can save it immediately after opening it. When I work with it for a while, the same problem occurs again. Anyone an idea what could be the reason? Its really annoying.

Hi FloTor,

Could you please send your Origin project file which had that saving problem. We need to reproduce your problem here to investigate.
Please send the file with the exact step-by-step procedure which resulted the problem.

Meanwhile, could you check the service release(SR) number of your Origin 8.5.1 (by "Help: About Origin" menu). If yours is NOT 8.5.1 SR2 (i.e. SR1 or SR0), could you upgrade to SR2 by choosing "Help: Check for Updates" menu)?

Thank you.

I dont want to publish that project. But thank you anyway.

It seems I "solved" the problem by installing a new Origin Version (8.6). It has not occured anymore yet.
