Origin Ver. and Service Release: OriginPro 7 SR4 Operating System: Windows XP
I am plotting moisture sorption data, where the sorption was recorded over time as atmospheric humidity was changed in intervals. The plot has time on the primary X-axis and moisture sorption on the Y-axis.
I want to show atmospheric humidity on the secondary X-axis since sorption is a function of both time and humidity.
The humidity changes with time, but not in a regular fashion: 0% at the start, 5% after 10 h, 10% after 15 h, and so on. There is no mathematical relationship.
Can I show humidity values on the secondary X-axis, such that: - the tick labels show humidity values 5, 10, 20, 30, etc. - each label corresponds to a specific time (on the primary X-axis). - the ticks are not equidistant.

Hi Avinash,
Perhaps you are looking for something like the image below?
Here, the first two columns have the x (time) and y (moisture) values, the third column has the custom time where humidity values are known, and then 4th column has the labels with the humidity values
If this is what you want, and your data is similarly organized, then you can do this in Origin version 8.6
You can download the 8.6 eval version and try these steps, if you need more help, contact tech support and refer to this post:
1> Plot the first two columns as an x-y plot 2> Add a 2nd layer with x axis on top, and link that axis 1-to-1 with the x axis of the 1st layer 3> Go to Scale tab of the top x axis and check the "Major Ticks from Dataset" checkbox (new feature in recent Origin version), and select the third column 4> Go to Tick Labels tab and set type drop-down list to "Tick-indexed dataset" and point to the 4th column with the humidity labels
If the above does not work for your data, send your data to tech support, you can use the link on top right of this page to send the file.
