Hello,

I have downloaded the Origin 6.0 demo version. Unfortunately the index in my data worksheet is corrupt.
I only see:

A(x) B(y)

,00000
,00000
,00000
,00000
,00000

and so on.
This happens only on Windows NT Workstation and Server 4.0 (German) with Service Pack 6a.
On Windows 95 or 98 I don't have this problem because there I see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on.
Is this a bug? Deinstalling Origin Demo or installing SP6a again didn't help.

It would be nice if anybody knows an answer because it depends on my plans of buying the full version of Origin 6.0

I think now I know what causes the problem. After installing NT 4.0 + SP6a (both German version) and Origin 6.0 Demo (English release) I checked after installing my other programs every time whether Origin works or not.
I have found out that my printer driver for HP Laserjet 6l (for NT 4.0) seems to be the reason for the corrupt index in my data worksheet. If I deinstall the HP driver everything works fine. Maybe my version is too old. Right now I am downloading new drivers from Hewlett Packard.
Let's see if it works then.

Marcus,
I have heard of a couple of similar instances, as you report. This problem is reported to be an issue with some German users of Origin. It is related to the use of what we refer to as the EURO separator problem. This is where Windows uses different characters when displaying numbers in the European format as compared to the way they are displayed on North American computers with the Regional Settings set for ENGLISH (United States). I am going to refer you to the Origin distributor in Germany. They provide excellent technical support for our users in Germany. Their contact information is:

ADDITIVE GmbH Rohrwiesenstraße 2 61381 Friedrichsdorf v.d.H
Tel: +49 (0)6172-5905-0 Fax: +49 (0)6172-77613

origin@additive-net.de

It is my understanding that a Service release is due out soon to correct this problem. It will be available from ADDITIVE GmbH. I am sure they can confirm this and work with you in your evaluation and anticipated purchase of the Origin software.

Regards,
