Create a plot. Draw a perfectly straight line - either horisontal or vertical. Now reduce the frame size and update the plot. In my Origin6SP4 (as well as in all previous versions) the line is not rescaled along with the rest. I think this bug occurs when one of the coordinated of two ends are exactly the same and the simple scaling factor won't work, indeed.

Thanks - it worked. The puzzling thing, however, is that if the line is straight, it is attached to a page by default, but if it is not, it is attached to a frame. Why is that so?

When attached to the page, the line is both position and scale independent of the layer. The line position and size are not affected by moving or resizing the layer, or by changing the axis scale. I believe the line that you have drawn is attached to the page. You can verify this by holding down the ALT key and double clicking on the line. The Label Control dialog box will pop up and the radio button in the top left will indicate the line attachment method.

A second method of attachment is to the graphs Layer Frame. When attached to the layer frame, the line is position dependent on its layer. When you move the layer, the line moves with the layer. If you resize the layer, the line changes dimensions proportionally and moves with the layer.. If you rescale the axes, however, the line does not change size or position.

A final method of attachment of a line is to Layer and Scales. When attached to the layer and scales, the line is connected to the layer in terms of size and position. If you move the layer, the line moves with the layer. If you resize the layer, the line changes dimensions proportionally and moves with the layer. If you rescale the axes, the line size does not change, but the line moves so that it maintains the same XY coordinate value.

If you are only changing the size of the layer frame and you want to have the drawn line scale properly and stay in its relative position to the data, you will need to open the Label Control dialog box and attach the line or lines to the Layer Frame.
