I'm a complete neophyte in the use of Origin. I've downloaded the demo and played around for a few days and it seems to be quite good. What I'd like to know is: has anyone out there used Origin for physical oceanographic data analysis?

The usual sorts of products I produce are vector stick plots of current meter velocity data, time-series plots, vertical profiles of water properties, progressive vector diagrams, current speed & direction roses, horizontal and vertical slices of numerical model output, etc., etc.. Clearly Origin is good for at least some, if not all, of these.

If there are any oceanographers out there who have used Origin, I'd like to hear your opinion of it. In particular, I'm interested in comparisons with other software such as MatLab. Thanks for any help.
