We would like to use global fitting for kinetic data, obtained with a multi-wavelength spectrophotometer (diode array). There is cryptic reference that this should be possible with origin 6.1 and 7 (which I don't yet have). Does anyone have experience with this?

Origin's nonlinear curve fitter allows one to (among other things):

  1. Simultaneously fit multiple datasets to the same fitting function while sharing (or not) one or n-1 parameters (where n represents the total number of parameters in the fitting function).
  2. Simultaneously fit multiple datasets to different fitting functions while sharing (or not) up to n-1 common parameters between each function.

Are either of these two techniques what you are searching for? If so, please take a look at the following Technical Review article:

Using the nonlinear curve fitter for simultaneous fitting

This article desribes the second possibility above, but can be applied to the first as well. Additional articles on fitting can be found by browsing the Technical Reviews Resources area. Or, search our Knowledge Base for tips, scripts, etc. on fitting in general.

Hope this helps. If not, please describe what you mean by "global fitting".

Thanks,
