Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.6.0. 64 bit SR3 b99.
Operating System: Windows7 64 bit

I plotted few Contour-> Color Fill maps. I changed colours/amout of levels/ levels values to those, convinient for this plot (logariphmic scale , not equidistant). Then I want to transport this colours and level values to another color Fill map. I saved this colormap as Theme, but when I click to allocate (set) this theme for next picture. I see, that just amount of levels and colors are transferred, the LEVELS VALUES are similar, but another, difference between values up to 50%. Why? How to transfer all color map parameters and levels properly?

this is second map, where I paste the levels values, they are different from those in fitst plot (amount of levels and colors are the same)

Hi Dmitry,

The colormap levels in theme is not saved directly by those values in the level list.

It is saved with percentage + From/To values on Set Levels dialog.

We guess you ever modify the first/last values in the level list to be different from the ones on Set Levels dialog.

Therefore, for now you will have to update the values on Set Levels dialog first and then continue to edit the individual levels except the first/last ones.

Hi Dmitry,
What Max meant is that after you open Plot Details dialog.

If you first click Levels... column header to set From and To values correctly.
Then go back to Colormap/Contour tab to set special levels (except from and to levels).
Save/load or copy/paste colormap will work. We will try to improve it better in 9.1: http://originlab.jira.com/browse/ORG-7370

Dear SnowLi,
in Origin 9.1 the problem remains. Can you, please, provide a formula, which is used to save the levels. How many significant digits is taken by Origin into account. Let say I have min/max 8e-6 ans 0.01 and three levels 2e-5, 6e-5 and 7e-3. How origin will save them? Or I should fined better values, which are proportional to min? But then how many steps are between min and max? So min step is 1% ? or ,let say, 0.01% ? So that the scale only with nice proportional values can be transferred correctly?

Hi Dmitry,

Sorry for replying late. I was swamped with Origin 2015 release, which is 9.2 internally. We just released it.

Unfortunately we decided not to make the change. So colormap levels exactly the same as you set, the first level (not the <xxxx) one and the last level must be the same as what's in Set Levels dialog).

Here are the steps you can use to copy or save colormap format and apply to other graphs. I will use the levels you mentioned below as an example.

1. Double click the graph to open Plot Details dialog.
2. On Colormap/Contours tab, click Level (column header) to open Set Levels dialog.
3. Set From to be 8E-6, To to be 0.01. You can set log10 type as well. Since you want 3 internal levels, set #Major Levels to be 4. #Minor Levels to be 0. Click OK to close the dialog.
4. On Colormap/Contours tab, you will see levels such as
<8E-6
8E-6
...
...
...
>0.01

5. Click each internal levels and enter values you want. E.g. 2e-5, 6e-5, 7e-3.
6. Click the Copy button button to copy color and levels. You can also click Save... button to save it as a graph theme file.
7. Now go to another colormap contour graph and right click in graph and Paste Format or open Plot Details dialog and click the Paste button.
See if you got same color levels.

If you saved graph theme file in step 7, in new graph, you can choose Tools: Theme Organizer.
Find the saved Graph theme file and apply. You can also apply it to multiple graphs since in Theme Organizer, there is a Apply Theme to dropdown list to choose current graph, graphs in folder or graphs in project.

I tried in 9.1 and it works. Let me know if it works for you.

Thanks, Snow
