Origin 8.5

Hello,

I draw a graph shown below. I saved the template and tried to apply the template on other workbooks but failed. I don't know why. So, I have to draw it again. However, I forget how to draw it.

Dose anyone know how to draw it? I appreciate your help.

Hi,

If you just want a column graph with those three columns you can select your data and go to Plot > Column/Bar/Pie > Column. However if you want the arrangement from the picture, where you have the Heating Capacity column behind the Cooling Capacity column, you will need to follow a couple more steps.

1. Select the COP and Heating Capacity columns of data in the worksheet, then plot a column graph by going to Plot > Column/Bar/Pie > Column

2. Next add a new layer by going to Graph > Layer Management, and under the Add tab, select Type to be "Top-X Right-Y (Linked Dimension)" from the dropdown. Click OK.

--> 2 more axes should appear, they may not have the same scale as the other axes, but if you double click on an axis and go to scale, you can edit them to be sure they match properly.

3. Go back to your worksheet and this time select the COP column and the Cooling Capacity column, now if you hover your mouse over the edge of the selection, you should see a graph icon appear, indication you can drag and drop your selected data into the graph to plot the new data.

4. Once you drag and drop you should see two lines appear on the graph, you can right click one of them and select Change Plot To > Column

--> Now the columns should appear like you have them arranged in the graph you posted, you can edit the fill and pattern of the columns by double clicking on them and going to the pattern tab (To do this you need to be sure that the Edit Mode is selected to be Independent in the Group tab).

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else, or if part of this was unclear.

Matthew
