Hi,

I have two XYZ datasets that I have created two contour plots from (displayed below). Does anyone know how I can use these datasets to create a new contour plot that shows the difference in Z for the regions where the plots overlap?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mulvenna,

Only if you simply need to perform the subtraction of two contours, you can convert each XYZ data to a matrix by gridding (I suggest to make a matrix large enough to draw a smooth surface), and subtract one from the other (like MBook2-MBook1 to MBook3 from the Script window).

To get the overlapping region of their data boundaries, you need programming to find the area beforehand so that even after gridding and subtraction, you can stll fill zeros outside the boundaries.

I can ask our developers if they can suggest any immediate solution/work-around for you. Is it possible to send your data of this sample plot?
(If okay, please send it to tech@originlab.com with Subject=ATTN.Hideo)
