Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 9.0 SR2
Operating System: Windows 7

I used the Peak Analyzer to fit a double gaussian signal. It worked great, but the report doesn't give me the errors for the amplitude. I have the errors for the area and width and so on in the FitPeaks section and I have the amplitude in the PeakProperties section, but I need the error for the amplitude.

Hi,

In general, if Amplitude is already a fitting parameter, you will have the standard error in the Parameters table in the Peak Fit result sheet:



If this does not clarifies your doubt (e.g. you have a different fitting function.etc), could you please send your Origin project file to us? To do this, please click the Send File to Tech support link at the top right corner of the forum main page and follow the instructions there.

Thank you for your reply, but this does not help me. Let me explain. The A marked here is actually the area. I believe that somewhere in the fitting, it is listed as the amplitude, but this is wrong. You can check this by going from the FitPeaks tab, which is what you showed, to the PeakProperties tab and compare the numbers. The number for A matches up with the area, not the amplitude. If this isn't true or is unclear, please let me know. I really need to figure out how to determine the error for the amplitude of my fit.

Hi,

Sorry, it turned out that there is a known issue with the Gaussian function that A should be area, we will fix the wrong description soon. In order to use amplitude as fitting parameter, you may use the GaussAmp fitting function instead.

Does the GaussAmp function allow for a double gaussian fit? If not, what can I use that will fit with 2 gaussian functions and give me the error in the amplitude?

GaussAmp is actually another form of the Gaussian fit function so it can be used similarly as Gaussian.

In the Peak Analyzer tool, when you reach the Fit Peaks (Pro) page, you can click the Fit Control button and select GaussAmp instead of Gaussian from the drop-down menu and use GaussAmp to carry out the fit.

Ok, so that worked great! Thanks!

Now I need to do the sample thing with 2 Lorentzians. Is there a LorentzAmp function?
