Greetings all, just switched from sigmaplot to Origin v9.1.

I have some complex kinetics data that includes exponential rise and fall with greater than 4 (4-6 exponents)exponents within one time trace. what is the most straight forward way of fitting the data? I think 3 exponentials is the largest number available in the standard function library. Thanks.

Hi Giordano,

The standard function library has a vast array of functions but you can also build your own functions by going to Tools: Fitting Function Builder. Here you can follow the same format as the 3 exponent built-in function to create a 6 exponent fitting function of your own. Some helpful resources can be found here:

http://www.originlab.com/index.aspx?go=Products/Origin/DataAnalysis/CurveFitting/FittingFunctions&ss=chm&pid=1172

If you run into any difficulties you can send your data with details of the problem to tech@originlab.com.
