Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 9.1
Operating System: win7 64 bit

Hi,

I want to import a .mat file from matlab. I used corresponding import function, however I do not manage, how I can transpose the data. The problem is, that the variables in matlab are saved as 1xn vectors. When I import this, Origin creates a column for each value instead of putting all values in one column as I want it to do. How can I achieve this? (Without transposing everything in Matlab).

Hi,

Can you try to transpose the worksheet after the importing? (Worksheet: Transpose)

Hello,

I will check if we can improve this.

For now, in 9.1, during mat import, you can check "Import into Hierarchical Structure" checkbox under Import Options node?

Then all the variable structures will show in the workbook.
U can click the variable to put the data into new worksheet.
Choose Worksheet: Transpose menu to transpose the worksheet.

"Import into Hierarchical Structure" is a new feature added in 9.1. If you don't check it, then all variables will be put into the same worksheet and it's hard to transpose them together.

Thanks, Snow

Hi FloTor,

We are working on improving this so we would like to hear your feedback.

In post below, I mentioned you can check "Import into Hierarchical Structure" during import to import the structure first. But I am not sure if you used it before.

Do you need transpose to be supported for the flat import (all variable values imported in one sheet or do you want it to be supported if you check ""Import into Hierarchical Structure" as well?

BTW, you only want transpose for 1XN vectors right?

Thanks, Snow

I only want to transpose 1xN vectors right now.
I think the transpose function would be particularly interesting for the flat import, but also for the hirarchical one.
