I need to fit my data using a special function, the Error function. But I can not find it in the fitting box. It's funny that I remember that in the demo there was a category called "special functions" that included the Bessel, the error function etc. Is this and add on for Origin 6.1? Where can I get it? Thank you.

Hello,

In ver 6.x, we do have erf() and inverf(). From the Help menu, choose LabTalk, then choose Function Reference. For erf and inverf, look under Statistical Functions, then Statistical Distributions. Or just search for erf and inverf.

In ver 7.0, we have also added the Special Functions chapter from the NAG Library which provides access to many more special functions: http://www.nag.com/numeric/cl/manual/html/S_cl06.html

Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System: OriginPro 2018 (64bit), b.9.5.1.195
Hello,
I want to fit a simple power law y=a*x^b. the problem is: y should be (H~s), in which (~) as wild tilde and (s) as the subscript. this variable should be shown in the fitting table as H~s, not y.
I tried the function builder, but I can't type H~s in the correct format. How can I do it?
Thank You!
Amin

Hi fodao,

Can you double click the fitted table in the graph where you can edit the content of the table to customize the fitted equation? Thank you.

James

by clicking the fitted table, I can edit the content, but I can't type H~s (See y-axis title in attached).

Hi,

Can you right click on the table cell and select Set Data Style:Rich Text? Then you can add symbol and subscript to the text. Thank you.

James

Hi James,
Thank you very much. It works.
for inserting the ~ sign above the variable, I copied the axis title and pasted in the cell. anyway, the problem is solved.
I appreciate you again.
Regards, Amin

Hi,

In Origin 2018 or later, you can enter unicode character by typing code and pressing ALT+X. For tilde above H, please try code 0303, then press alt+X. Here is another blog describing thisfeature.

Thanks,
