On Origin 2015, control over color scale styling has been considerably improved including that addition of borders, ticks, positioning, etc. All of these styles are accessible by double clicking on the color scale to open the new Color Scale Dialog.

What seems to be happening in your case is that new settings are being applied to your color scale. You'd simply need to go into the new Color Scale Dialog and make the appropriate adjustments such as removing borders and ticks, etc.

That being said, even if the new settings are undone, there seems to be a small issue with the font size of the labels. Perhaps the most practical solution to that is to reduce the font size on the labels a little bit.

Once you get the new styling the way you like, you can right-click on the color scale and choose "Copy Format->Styles" and paste the new styles to other graphs. Be sure to only copy Styles though.

I think this is a bug of the new version as the new settings are applied with some mistake in scalling. It is not a problem to change the legend for one Graph, but I have only in this project more than 200 of them. And there are also projects from previous years.

Actually, the issue is in 9.1, not 2015.

You see, when you created your color scale in 9.1 and set its font size (e.g. 26 pt), Origin internally scaled down the font size of the labels (they aren't really 26 pt even if Origin says they are in the Color Scale Dialog). When you opened your project in 2015, the new color scale mechanism made the labels actually 26 pt. Thus they are bigger than in 9.1.

Whether or not that is a bug, lets find a way to resolve your issue now.

1) First, make a copy of your project file as a backup!
2) Open the project in Origin 2015.
3) For one graph, modify the Color Scale to suit your needs.
4) Right click on the Color Scale and select "Save Format as Theme..." and name it something like "My Color Scale Fix".

Now, you can use the themeApply2g X-Function (http://www.originlab.com/doc/X-Function/ref/themeApply2g) to apply that theme to other graphs. The "option" parameter lets you specify which graphs to apply your theme to. If all the graphs in the project are like this one, then it will be easy- just set option:=project. But if there are a mix of other types of graphs, you may have to do some temporary reorganizing before running that X-Function.

*** It also assumes that your all of your data goes from 1e06 - 5.12e06. If not, some modification of the theme is necessary.

For example, to run the X-Function and apply the theme to all graphs in the project, open the Command window and type:

themeApply2g theme:="My Color Scale Fix" option:=project;

Hello,

It looks we had a bug in Origin older versions so actually the color scale label font size isn't really want user set. We fixed it in Origin 2015 which caused the issue you saw.

So we will try to fix it so that if user opens older opj files with color scale object, the font size stored inside spectrum objects will be reduced by a factor so your graph will not be distorted.

BTW, we will also turn off those new features such as border around the colormap, and ticks to the right of the colormap so that it should look the same as the opj saved in older version.

It's jiraed in https://originlab.jira.com/browse/ORG-12391

Sincerely,
Snow Li
