Operating System: Windows 7 64 Bit
I have a simple question and I guess most of you can answer it easily, but I couldn't find the answer by myself: I have a point-and-line-graph, and I want the first point to be different from the others (not filled) and the line between the first and the second point to be different (dashed). I managed to make the point look different, but I didn't succeed changing the line segment independently from the rest of the line.
Do you know how to do that?

Origin supports selecting multiple ranges of data in same column and plot them as multiple plots.
So here is how to achieve what you want:
Select 1st two cells in Y column, and then press Ctrl key down and select from 2nd cell to last cell of Y column.
Plot line+symbol graph.
--> Two plots show in graph, one is from 1:2. The other is from 2 to the end.
If you double click the plots to open Plot Details dialog, on left panel, u can see them listed under Layer1 node.
Since they are plotted as a group, you can see Group tab when 1st plot is selected.
You can set Edit Mode to be independent to customize symbol and line of each plot separately.
For 1st plot [1:2], Go to Line tab to change line style to be Dash.
Go to Symbol tab.
Check Custom Construction.
Geometric.
Set Shape as Increment. This allows each points have different shapes for plot 1.
--> Shape List tab will show.
Go to Shape List tab, set 1st point shape to be what you want.
Set 2nd shape to be No Symbol.
Click OK.
