Origin Ver. OriginPro 2015 (32-bit) b9.2.214 (Academic) and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): Operating System: Windows 7 Enterpise
Hello, I am trying to paste a graph I made in origin into a MS Word document, but when I paste, the dimensions of the graph are reduced from 15 cm in diameter to 12 cm. Anyone have any idea why it is doing this?

Hi KAnderson,
This should be an easy fix.
1) From main menu, select Tools->Options. 2) in the Options dialog, select the Page tab. 3) Change the Copy Page Settings Ratio from 40 to 100 4) Click OK.
Now try copying and pasting your graph again.

Hi, thanks for the fast response, but the copy page settings ratio was already set to 100. |

For testing purposes, what happens if you set the Word docs margins to 0.5 inches (1.25 cm)? I'm trying to determine if Word is shrinking down the graph to fit in the original doc margins. |

Here is a another option based on similar issues other have had.
1) From main menu, select Window->Command Window. 2) at the prompt, type @EMS=0; 3) Press the Enter key.
Now try copy-pasting your graph to see if that fixes the issue. Let us know the results. |

Hi thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately that didn't help. What I am trying to do is to paste a graph from Origin into Word, with the font size selected in Origin being the same as that in Word. However, when I paste into Word the dimensions (and therefore font size) are not matching those in Origin. If I go into MS Word and select 'format object' 'size', the original dimensions are different from those in Origin.

I see.
I realize that you are using Origin 2015. But if you happen to be using a project file created in an older version of Origin, you may have to standard font sizes. With the graph active, go to the Graph menu and look for "Convert to Standard Font Size". It it is enabled, select it. If it is greyed-out then don't worry about it.
As for the issue that when a graph is pasted into Word, the Original Size isn't the same as Origin, we've contacted our developers about this.
In the mean time, what happens if you simply change the Absolute Height & Width in Word to be the same as Origin?
I can see the issue myself. But when I change the Absolute Height & Width in Word, Origin font sizes and Word font sizes match up. Note that I am using True Typew fonts to test. |

Yeah that did it, well done. :) In MS Word I right clicked on the Origin graph, selected 'Format Object' clicked on the 'Size' tab and changed the dimensions to match those in origin and now the font size matches. It is strange that it is not pasting the correct size, but at least I now know how to fix it. Hopefully the software developers can easily fix that, as pasting into MS Word will be a very common occurrence for Origin users. Thanks very much for your help, you are awesome! :) |
