Hi,

I have no idea what Origin lab is capable of yet, but I have some source data I am trying to convert in to a 3D moving image.

I have a file which contains the positions of a moving object over a period of time. It has an id, an X,Y, & Z position along with a timestamp for every position (approximately every 2 seconds). Some of the source data has more than one object (with its own unique id).

What I would like to do is display this data in 3D. Run it in realtime or speed up or slow down. My goal is to also provide a background to this information so you can see the environment the object(s) is/are moving through.

Is this possible with Origin? If not any idea what tools I could consider?

Hope you can help.

Hi,

You can firstly check out our Animation Gallery and see whether any video type grabs your interest or not.

http://originlab.com/animation

Origin is capable of animating data more than the cases illustrated in our animation gallery, if you are interested you can send your detailed requirements and sample data to tech@originlab.com so that we can see what can be done to help.

Regards!

Sean,

Thanks for responding. What I have is a 3d image of an area of seabed. Its an .sd file and I use iView4d viewer to look at it (its fledermause). I also have the data in other formats too, but what I wanted to do is: In some sort of tool/model/viewer, have this seabed as a background and then import a track from a boat travelling above this seabed. I have the boats position from gps co-ordinates taken at regular intervals (x,y & t). If the two were intertwined I could view the overall image from different perspectives. Maybe then I could create a 3d image of the boat itself (rather than a dot crossing the water - but one step at a time eh.

Can you help?
