Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 8 SR0, v8.0724 (B724) Operating System: Windows 7
I produced the beautiful attached XYZ bubble graph but am struggling with a couple of problems.
- One of them is moving individual labels. As I have heard this version of Origin does not support the "CTRL+click over label" trick. I could not believe this, as these small details are the actual reason you go for a professional graphing software, and OriginPro is great in so many aspects...! This is a BIG problem, and incredibly limiting...All labels get superposed to the extent of illegibility. Does anyone knows of a way to go around it?! - Second problem is the bubble scale! I simply can't find a way to plot a consistent scale of bubble sizes, a basic format seems not to exist (for instance, with the graph, a min and max bubble sizes could automatically be added)... I also know the nested version (which looks great) would not be available with Origin 8... Can someone help?
Thanks!

Hi Gonçalo
Unfortunately that version of Origin is nearly 10 years old, and is no longer supported, so documentation is relatively limited.
That aside, one way you could modify the labels you have on that graph is by going back into your worksheet and creating a second/third label column and copying and pasting these the labels you would like to move into that column. Granted this would not let you easily work with individual labels (that would be a few too many columns I imagine) but it would let you move at least a group of those labels which are currently illegible.
Of course to do this you would have to plot your data as a general scatterplot and make it a bubble graph by manually going into Plot Details and pointing the symbol size to the column with those values.
As for the bubble scale- the manual for Origin 8 makes no mention of it, the most I could recommend is creating some rows of y data to be plotted at the same position, but with transparent/outlined symbols and different size values that match your max/min. Then text labels could be manually added to make a de facto bubble scale.
And of course, I would recommend trying the Origin 2016 evaluation on our website. I can promise you none of these would be issues in the most recent version of our software.
Best regards
