Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.5
Operating System:windows

hi,

I plotted scatter plot with 1000's of data in a column. When i tried the data "Data point display control" skip points, my maximum values is skipped.

Is there a way to retain the maximum and minimum value in the plot and skip other point at different interval.

Hi,

I would suggest you plot your original data into 3 subranges and then set "Data Point Display Control" for each of them. To do so, you can hold Ctrl key to drag mouse cursor through the first subrange and then do the same to simultaneously select the second subrange which contains the peak, and do it one more time to select the tail data. Then plot as scatter. Highlight first plot and set Edit Mode as Independent. After you set "Skip Points" for each subrange, then set the color the same.

I have attached an example I created:

Give it a try and see how it goes.

Regards!
