I was wondering if separate positive and negative error bars can be attached to x in scatter plots? I see where this can be done for y. But not for x. |

Hi,
Quick answer to your question is yes.
1.Highlight the column of X error, and right click to select Set As: X Error in the context menu. 2.Highlight the three columns of X, Y and X error, and Select Plot: Symbol: Scatter from Origin menu to create a graph with X error bars.
More details can be found here: http://www.originlab.com/doc/Quick-Help/errbar-display-in-plot
FYI, if you want to edit the properties of error bar, you can double click on the plot to open Plot Details dialog, and then select Error plot in the left panel and Error Bar tab in the right panel.
Hope it helps.
Regards, Yuki OriginLab

For Y Error, in Plot Setup dialog, you can set one column as Y Err+, and another column as YErr-, but for x errors, if you want different positive and negative x error. set them as x errors as Yuki said below. Then you will need to plot the plot once with positive x error selected, the next time with the other x error seelected.
In Plot Details dialog, choose each eror plot on the left panel and check corresponding Plus or Minor sign off.
Thanks, Snow |
