Origin 2016
Operating System: Windows 10

I'm trying to form multiple groups of datasets within a single graph layer. So far, the command to group all datasets together works for me:

'layer -g;'

But as soon as I try to insert dataset/column indices nothing happens:
'layer -g [BeginIndex EndIndex];'

I've tried indexing starting at 0 and at 1 (labtalk starts at 1 for indexing, right?).

Anyone have insight on how to get this to work or how to troubleshoot?
I'm calling these commands via matlab and the COM server.

Hi,

For example, if you want to group the first dataset and the second one, you can try the following script:

layer –g 1 2;

Hope it helps.

Ah, so you don't need to include the brackets? Works fine now. Thanks!

Maybe the documentation should be changed, because the notation is not straightforward on this page:

http://www.originlab.com/doc/LabTalk/ref/Layer-cmd

-g; group all datasets in the active layer

Syntax: layer -g [BeginIndex EndIndex];

Minimum Origin Version Required: 8.6 SR1

Group datasets from BeginIndex to EndIndex. If no begin and end indexes are specified, it will group all datasets in the active layer.
