Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 2015 b9.2.257 SR1
Operating System: Windows 7

Hi,

I am making a potential energy surface in OriginPro and am trying to attach labels to each energy level. Each level is one flat line, and I'd like to attach a label underneath showing the y value. when I go through "plot properties --> label --> label form: Y" I get a label with both the start and end y values displayed. For example, in the attached screen grab, the label is where I'd like it to be, but has two "-0.3" labels. Obviously since it's a flat line both are the same and I'd like just one instance of it to be shown, centred underneath the line.

Does anybody know of a way to do this through the custom label option?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

We had another user asking for such energy plot and we have this post of how to do it
http://www.originlab.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26067
so you don't need to generate such xy pairs to plot it.

We are improving it even further in the coming Origin 2017 sr1.

If you must organize your data as you did, u can highlight B, C4 and C8 columns (those flat lines) and plot as line graph first so these plots will be grouped together.
Then highlight C2 and C6 columns and drag them into the graph so there are two groups of data.

Then in Plot Details, select the first plot on the left and enable label. It will only enable labels for 1st group of data (flat ones). But still it will show the begin and end Y values though they are the same.

You can ctrl+ double click the label you don't want to show in graph. It will create special point for this point and open Plot Details dialog. Uncheck the checkbox before the index number on left panel which will hide the label.

You can drag other labels to expected place (underneath the horizontal line and in the middle).

Thanks, Snow
