I have a set of non dependant (x axis) numbers and their match numbers (y axis). i suspect it's a probolic function, so how do i macth this function with the excel ?

Hi Daniel,

I don't know how to do it in Excel, but it's easy in Origin.

1. Plot the y values versus x values. (Select Y column and Plot->choose a type).
2. Tools->Polynomial Fit
3. Set Order to 2, other settings as appropriate.
4. Click the Fit button. Fit curve is drawn, parameters appear in the Results log.

More advanced fitting is possible with Analysis->Non-Linear Curve Fit->Advanced Fitting Tool.
